Home Again

I seem to disappear from the blogosphere every summer. I was determined not to do that this year but....I did it again anyway! Maybe next year I will be better......but probably not.

So in my absence from my blog here is what we have been up to:

We began the summer with swim lessons for Talia followed by many days of playing at the pool to get her pool safe. I never went to a community pool as a child but here in Ohio that is the way to go. The girls always know someone there so we have playdates that I don't have to plan or clean up after. And all the while I get to work on my tan.

Chris and I began training for a local marathon. We took the kids to a bike trail several times a week and we would team up: Chris & Taylor, Aubrey & Christine, me & Talia. Chris, Aubrey and I would run and the other girls would ride along on their bikes. Usually I take the stroller and Talia and her bike end up getting a lift. (sidenote: Aubrey is trying to train for the Cross Country team). But about a month ago, due to some personal issues for me and a broken foot for Chris, we put our new family passtime on hold. According to Chris's latest X-rays it seems he won't be up and running for at least another month.

The highlight of the summer, at least for the girls and I, came at the end of July when we headed out west to sunny California. In the 3 1/2 weeks we were there we got to see lots of friends and family and visit some of our favorite places. This trip deserves it's own post and I hope to get to that soon. Just flying alone with the girls could be it's own post and to top it off we flew home on Friday the Thirteenth!!

The day after we got back was Chris's 20 year high school reunion. There was a breakfast for families, an afternoon swim party, and it culminated with the big formal dinner that night. It was really fun and interesting......

Monday, August 16th was our 13th wedding anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SWEETHEART! I still love ya after all these years! Chris surprised me with tickets to see Wicked! Now how could I not love that?

School starts in a week and I think the girls are feeling ready... but I'm not! Back to the grindstone.
